ROV Mid-Atlantic Champions

David and his ROV team are once again ROV Mid-Atlantic Champions. They competed with their vehicle at Langley Air Force Base on May 2, 2009. They won in the categories of Best Cost Effectiveness (they were actually the only team to bother to participate in this category), Best Water Mission (scoring 280 out of 300 points), Best Poster (scored not only on how nice it was, but on how clearly they got the engineering method and the goals across, and first place overall. We figured out that they missed the engineering award by like half a point. They were really outstanding as a team!

The mission was to build the vehicle, operated via joysticks and cameras (they cannot look at the vehicle in the water or talk to anyone watching the vehicle while operating it,that would open the doors and depositing the items gathered from another spot...I am sure David could get more technical with this, but that is the gist and I think the photos speak for themselves. They get two tries....fifteen minutes each. We did so well. They did so well. The first try they got all five canisters. And opened both doors but couldn't shut one. The second time they retrieved four canisters but did open and shut the doors. There is another task in there that I am forgetting, but that's okay. The team was totally awesome!
