Gosh, November seems so long ago! Let me catch things up here…
Two weeks after David’s birthday he got his learner’s permit and happily drives whenever he can! He’s pretty good, too--could be that I am not as nervous, having driven with Katherine as a new driver. I was so nervous then! David has a bit more self confidence than Katherine did. He’s cautious though and that’s a good thing!
About the same time as David’s permit, came Connor. I just have to smile even typing his name. We have known him for a few years and I often wondered about him and Katherine. They seemed to be such a good match. He finally saw it too and they had their first date on December 1st. This Saturday will make three months for them. It’s been fun. We’re past the getting to know you stage and are more comfortable when he comes over to hang out for an evening. They went to the Winter formal together and just last week, they dressed up as Marilyn Monroe and JFK. Such a stretch for Katherine and very fun! Katherine has never spent much time on Spirit week at school. She mainly did the school/class color day. She wished now she had participated more often. They had such a good time. She really enjoyed playing dress up outside of her box---and equally enjoyed getting home to her blue jeans and t shirt!
College seems closer and closer. We spent the first Saturday in February at Elon for student day and we go back March 7th for her Honors Fellows interview competition.
David and Katherine also competed with the Mock Trial competition in Greenville. Didn’t win, but had a wonderful experience and Katherine received a scholarship offer. (She wrote the essay….so we wait and see if she gets the award!)
Dance Competition was the weekend after Mock Trial. We went up for the day with Connor and Charlotte. Unbeknownst to us----we wouldn’t get out of there until after midnight or home until 2am! Katherine stayed the night for the workshop Sunday. Mom and Connor (and my boys!) were such good sports. There were 187 dances. Katherine’s studio was only in two! There were so many trashy dances….just amazing. I heard Connor say more than one how his daughter ‘would never do that’. lol.
On the scout front…David continues to march toward his eagle. Just paperwork to do before he can start his project. By summer, he should be an Eagle Scout! Daniel has just become first class….and in only a year!
